Fans Can Follow UGA and Georgia Tech Sports Via Social Media Outlets

Officials in various sports reach out through Facebook and Twitter.

Updated Sept. 18

It's always football season online. And fans of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets can get all kind of info about their favorites in all sports through social media outlets Facebook and Twitter.

Like many other organizations, the athletic departments in Athens and Atlanta have stepped fully into the social media world. They realize its importance in outreach to fans and alumni -- and its value in recruiting.

For instance, UGA's official football Twitter feed is called @werunthisstate. And the intensity of recruiting was evident recently when the Bulldogs won over a key prospect.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, after UGA beat out Georgia Tech for Malkom Parrish, the Bulldogs coaches appeared to celebrate over Twitter. Tweeted UGA tight ends coach John Lilly: “Great day to be a Dawg … but then again, when is it not? #WeRunThisState #GATAgang14”

Such tweets apparently are within NCAA rules, as long as a prospective student-athlete is not specified in the tweet.
