Former NBA, UGA Basketball Stars To Be at Suwanee Event

The celebrity fund-raiser will be at Peachtree Ridge High on Friday, April 5.

Several former University of Georgia and NBA basketball stars will be in a benefit event at Peachtree Ridge High in Suwanee on April 5. The event is being held in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four, which will be in Atlanta that weekend.

According to a Peachtree Ridge newsletter, former NBA greats Artis Gilmore and Dave Cowens and former Bulldogs coach Hugh Durham will be at the Wounded Warrior Amputees Final Four Friday event, which will run 5-8 p.m.

The celebrity challenge game also will involve other former NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball stars, the release said.

Durham was coach of the Bulldogs' only Final Four team, in 1983. Members of that team also will be at the event, the release said. Events will include a game, three-point shooting contest, autographs, photo opportunities, and raffles.

Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Youths in grades kindergarten through grade 6 will be admitted free.
