Gwinnett Braves Lose Redmond, Pastornicky

Pitcher Delgado is optioned back to the G-Braves by Atlanta.

A couple of prominent Gwinnett Braves players will be wearing new uniforms.

Pitcher Todd Redmond, the G-Braves' all time wins leader, was traded to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday for shortstop Paul Janish. Also, shortstop Tyler Pastornicky was recalled by Atlanta from Gwinnett.

However, pitcher Randall Delgado was optioned back to Gwinnett from Atlanta in Saturday's roster moves, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He reportedly will start Monday for Gwinnett.

Redmond, 27, had a 34-30 record with a 3.78 ERA in 101 games over nearly four seasons with Gwinnett. Janish, who will join the parent club in Atlanta, was acquired to replace Andrelton Simmons, who is expected to miss several weeks with a finger injury.

Pastornicky was the opening-day shortstop for Atlanta, but was returned to Gwinnett during the season. He was hitting .255 for Gwinnett when recalled Saturday.

On Saturday, Gwinnett lost 10-8 at Louisville when pitcher Buddy Carlyle allowed a walk-off grand slam in the ninth. G-Braves pitchers have allowed 32 runs in the past two games.

NEXT HOME GAME: Scranton Wilkes-Barre at Gwinnett, Friday, July 20.

The Braves are in need of true shortstops. Glad to know they are working on it. I don't know anything about Paul Janish, but there is a good chance he will be playing at the TED soon.
