Gwinnett Braves All-Star Is Now in Atlanta Uniform

Terdoslavich joins the parent club, and gets into Thursday's game at Turner Field.

Joey Terdoslavich probably won't be able to make the Class AAA All-Star Game later this month in Reno, Nev., but he isn't complaining.

Terdoslavich joined the Atlanta Braves on Thursday (July 4) when his contract was purchased from the Gwinnett Braves. The outfielder is expected to fill a backup role as Atlanta outfielder Jordan Schafer is now on the 15-day disabled list.

Terdoslavich, 24, was hitting .318 with 18 home runs for Gwinnett this season when he got the call from Atlanta. Earlier in the week, it was announced that Terdoslavich had been voted to a starting spot in the Class AAA All-Star Game.

Terdoslavich even got into Thursday's Atlanta game vs. Miami at Turner Field, going 0-for-1 as a pinch-hitter.

"(Terdoslavich is) swinging the bat at Triple-A really, really well," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said on mlb.com. "He swung it in Spring Training for us, and we needed a bat -- a left-handed bat."

According to mlb.com, Atlanta's bench began to weaken on June 18 when Evan Gattis was placed on the DL with a right oblique strain. Switch-hitting Ramiro Pena underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last week.
