Gwinnett Braves Draw Closer to First

G-Braves defeat Syracuse.

Stefan Gartrell hit two home runs Tuesday night to lead the Gwinnett Braves to a 7-1 victory over Syracuse at Coolray Field. With the victory, the G-Braves (38-33) pulled within a game of first-place Durham in the International League South.

Gartrell also had 3 RBI on the night. Pitcher Steven Shell, making his third start of the season, gave up just one run in five innings.

Also, the G-Braves announced Tuesday that shortstop Julio Lugo was called up to the parent team in Atlanta, and that Diory Hernandez was returning to Gwinnett.

The teams play again Wednesday night (7:05 pm.) at Coolray Field. It's Web Wednesday, meaning fans can print out a special online coupon. This week the coupon gives fans access to a G-Braves autograph session.
