The Gwinnett Braves took a 2-1 victory over Durham on Monday in a key game for pennant-race implications. Gwinnett now trails Durham by 2 1/2 games in the IL South and is tied for the wild-card lead.
Mauro Gomez, named the IL Player of the Week on Monday, was 3-for-3 and drove in both Gwinnett runs. Pitcher Todd Redmond went six innings, allowing six hits and one run.
Gwinnett plays at Durham on Tuesday (7:05 p.m.), the G-Braves' final game of the season vs. the Bulls.
