Gwinnett Braves Have Two 'Must Win' Games Left

G-Braves a game behind wild-card leaders as they close season at Coolray Field.

The Gwinnett Braves come home to Coolray Field on Sunday with two games left in the season, and they carry "must-win" status for the playoffs.

The G-Braves split two games Saturday in Charlotte. Gwinnett lost 3-2 in a game suspended from Friday; Gwinnett won the 7-inning nightcap 5-2.

Gwinnett trails Lehigh Valley by one game for the IL wild-card spot.

In the opener, Peter Moylan pitched one inning in his rehab stint from Atlanta. Mauro Gomez homered and Stefan Gartrell had two hits.

In the nightcap, Gomez was 3-for-3, and Wil Nieves homered. Jairo Asencio earned his 25th save.

The G-Braves again face Charlotte on Sunday (5:05 p.m.) and Monday (2:05 p.m.) at Coolray. Lehigh Valley is at Syracuse both days and its "magic number" to clinch is two.
