Are you ready for another round of picks?

Mill Creek at : If we didn’t know better, we might think this could be a trap game for the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. North has been rolling along on a six-game winning streak, may be looking ahead to a bigger game down the road (Peachtree Ridge on Nov. 4), and has an opponent this week that can play extremely well when it puts things together at the right time. Don’t count on it. North (6-1, 4-0) already had its wakeup call with its 26-17 loss to McEachern in the season-opening Corky Kell Classic. In that game, the Bulldogs had the lead until the final moments.  Rest assured, coach Bob Sphire will have his team focused on a strong finish to the regular season. That’s not to say that Mill Creek isn’t capable of beating the Bulldogs. The Hawks (4-3, 1-3) have lost games by two, three and seven points, and are remarkably close to an undefeated record. The Hawks are still eyeing a playoff berth, but a loss this week would probably the Hawks out. North Gwinnett 31, Mill Creek 24.

Duluth at : The only way the Duluth Wildcats can reach the Class AAAAA playoffs is to start playing upset football. The Wildcats (4-3 overall) are in a three-way tie for third place in Region 7-AAAAA with Collins Hill and Norcross, teams that have already beaten them. Upcoming are games against Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett, which are tied for first place, and Mill Creek, which still has its own playoff aspirations. A win against Lions would be a great start. The only problem is that Peachtree Ridge (6-1, 4-0) is one of the state’s hottest teams, Last week’s 41-14 win over Norcross was the Lions’ most complete game of the year. Peachtree Ridge 32, Duluth 23.

Mountain View at : Collins Hill’s up-and-down season is looking up again, thanks to last week’s 35-32 win over Mill Creek. The Eagles (3-4, 2-2 in Region 7-AAAAA) are in the playoff picture, which at one point this season looked improbable. And the Eagle can still make the postseason even with a 2-1 finish to the regular season. But a win this week is crucial against Mountain View (2-5, 1-3). Collins Hill 23, Mountain View 14.
