Legendary Sports Columnist Bisher Dies at 93

His Atlanta career spanned more than 50 years.

His Atlanta career started well before pro sports came to the city, and it lasted well past the time that Super Bowls and Olympics were held here.

Furman Bisher, who retired from the Atlanta-Journal Constitution in 2009, died of a heart attack Sunday at age 93, the AJC reported.

"He put more quality words on newsprint than any other writer in the last half of the 20th century," former editor of The Atlanta Journal and the Atlanta Constitution. Jim Minter said late Sunday. "He never wrote a bad column."
