News from Patch sites in the area.

The Gwinnett Braves have announced that Randy Ready has accepted the position as the team's manager. He will be the second manager in the team's four-year history in Gwinnett.

Ready, 52, played 13 seasons in Major League Baseball and had three years as an MLB hitting coach. He comes to Coolray Field from the Texas Rangers, where he spent the last season working as their minor league hitting coordinator. From 2009 to 2011, he served as the hitting coach for the San Diego Padres.

Ready replaces Dave Brundage, who accepted a job as the manager of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs earlier this month.

Norcross Resident Charged With Statutory Rape

Police have issued search warrants for a hotel room and residence in Norcross after they found a missing South Georgia girl in the company of a Norcross man Monday.

Raymundo Aranda-Parra has been charged with interference with custody and statutory rape, according to Norcross Police.

He is being transferred from the Norcross Police Department to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he will be held without bond.

Norcross Police say Griselda Cibrian, the 14-year-old from Glennville who was reported missing Sunday and found in Norcross on Monday morning, went voluntarily with Aranda-Parra, 24.
