North Gwinnett Wins, Peachtree Ridge Loses in AAAAA Tourney

The Bulldogs will face Milton in the quarterfinals. The Lions' season is over.

won in overtime Wednesday, but lost in the second round of the AAAAA boys basketball tournament.

The Bulldogs took a 70-68 victory over Wheeler to advance to the quarterfinals. However, the Lions suffered an 80-69 loss in Suwanee vs. Alpharetta to end their season.

North will play Saturday (8:30 p.m.) vs. Milton at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.

The Bulldogs' winning points came with four seconds to play in OT when Kam Calhoun scored off a pass from A.J. Clements. Wheeler had tied the game at 61 with 4 seconds left in regulation.

Chris Bolden led North with 30 points.

At Ridge, the Lions fell behind 42-31 at halftime and never caught up. Ty Toney hit 12 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the lead; he finished with 36 points to lead all scorers.

Jordan Capps led Ridge with 26 points and nine rebounds.

The AAAAA semifinals and finals will be at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth on March 8-9.
