North Gwinnett Girls in AAAAA Semifinals; North Boys Eliminated

Bulldogs girls will face Hillgrove on Thursday at the Gwinnett Arena.

It's on to the Gwinnett Arena for the girls basketball team. However, the season is over for the North Gwinnett boys.

The North girls reached the AAAAA semifinals with an easy 66-43 victory Saturday over region foe Mill Creek in Carrollton. Ariel Johnson (20 points), Peyton Whitted (19 points) and Lexie Brown (12 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists) led the way for North.

The Bulldogs will face Hillgrove on Thursday, 7 p.m., at the Gwinnett Arena in the semifinals. It's the first trip to the semifinals for North since 1963.

However, the North boys were no match for Milton, falling 80-58 in Carrollton. Chris Bolden scored 27 points to lead the Bulldogs, who finished the year 21-10.

Also in the AAAAA girls semifinals are defending champ Norcross, which will play in Thursday's other semifinal, 4 p.m. The Blue Devils will face Powder Springs, meaning there could be an all-Gwinnett girls title game Saturday.
