North Gwinnett Girls Reach AAAAA Quarterfinals

Woodstock falls. Mill Creek is North's next foe.

The North Gwinnett High girls will face a Region 7-AAAAA rival in the state basketball quarterfinals, but will have to travel to Carrollton to do it.

Lexie Brown and Ariel Johnson each scored 20 points Tuesday as North held off Woodstock 60-55 on the road to reach the quarterfinals. Their opponent will be Mill Creek on Saturday at University of West Georgia.

Peyton Whitted addedΒ 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (25-3).

In Wednesday's boys tournament play for Suwanee teams, North Gwinnett travels to Wheeler and Peachtree Ridge hosts Alpharetta.

The boys and girls AAAAA state finals will be at the Gwinnett Arena on March 9.
