Norcross Beats North Gwinnett for 6A Title

The Blue Devils win their second straight state title.

Norcross won its second straight 6A title Saturday with a solid 31-14 victory over North Gwinnett at the Georgia Dome.

The Blue Devils got revenge for an earlier loss to their Gwinnett rival from Suwanee. Norcross, which trailed 14-0 early in the game, put the game on ice with a with a 69-yard pass play from quarterback A.J. Bush to Myles Autry with 9:39 to play.

Norcross led 31-14, with 6:20 to play in the game, as North Gwinnett regained possession.

Updated 11:42 p.m.:
Defending champ Norcross widened its lead to 24-14 after three quarters. The Blue Devils scored on a 4-yard run by A.J. Bush, after a Bush pass to Clinton Lynch covering 64 yards set up the play.

North Gwinnett had three turnovers in the third quarter.

Updated 11:22 p.m.:
Norcross took its first lead of the game 17-14 with 5:53 to play in the third quarter on a 32-yard field goal by Blake Bingham.

The Blue Devils were threatening to score earlier, but running back Josh Boyd fumbled, and North recovered in the end zone for a touchback with 8:19 to play. But Norcross regained the ball on an interception with 7:17 to play.
Updated 10:38 p.m.:
 After holding an early 14-0 lead, North Gwinnett went into the locker room at halftime tied 14-14 with Norcross in the 6A title game at the Georgia Dome on Saturday.

The Blue Devils tied the game with 4:19 to play in the second quarter on a 34-yard pass from A.J. Bush to Clinton Lynch. The same pair hooked up on a two-point conversion.

Updated 9:54 p.m.:
North Gwinnett held a 14-6 lead over Norcross at the end of the first quarter of Saturday's 6A title game in the Georgia Dome.
North jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Norcross' Myles Autry ran a kickoff back 92 yards to put Norcross on the board.

The Bulldogs' Hayden Sphire had scoring passes of four yards to Nate Brown and 21 yards to Caleb Scott.
Initial post: North Gwinnett and Norcross finally began the 6A title game Saturday night in the Georgia Dome, shortly before 9:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs of Suwanee and the Blue Devils each ran an offensive series, but punted after their efforts stalled.
