North Gwinnett's Jones Runs the Hard Way

Bulldogs back is the Suwanee player of the week.

has shown the ability to be explosive from its spread offense this season. Last Friday it showed the ability to get yards the tough way too.

Running back Joe Jones scored three touchdowns on short runs against Collins Hill to lead the Bulldogs to a 34-10 victory over their Suwanee rivals. Jones' scores all came in the second quarter as North took a 20-10 halftime lead after trailing 3-0 in the first quarter.

North coach Bob Sphire noted that Jones was due for a "breakout" game after being slowed by a preseason hamstring injury.

Previously, QB Scott Hosch and WR Chad Scott had been the top Bulldog stars on offense. Now you can add Jones to the top performers for a team that is 3-1 and ranked No. 6 in the state in AAAAA.

This Friday, North has another region game, in Suwanee against Meadowcreek.
