Walton takes control in the second half, winning 26-14

This year's Corky Kell Classic on Saturday featured two games in which the teams had never played football against each other before: Lassiter vs. Brookwood was one, and the Peachtree Ridge vs. Walton game was the other.

Peachtree Ridge of Suwanee missed the playoffs last year for the first time since 2005, and the Lions were looking for an opening-game win to jump start their season. However, Walton came away with a 26-14 victory.

The score was tied 14-14 into the third quarter, after Diandre Atwater scored his second touchdown of the game. Walton then took control of the game with two long touchdown runs: Tyren Jones scored on an exciting 80-yard touchdown run, followed up a few minutes later with an 89-yard punt return by Dakota Richardson.
