'Showdown Friday' in Suwanee

Peachtree Ridge hosts Collins Hill and North Gwinnett hosts Duluth.

It's the most important weekend of the 2012 high school football season in Suwanee, with region standings and bragging rights on the line.

Collins Hill, unbeaten in Region 7-AAAAAA at 2-0, visits Suwanee rival Peachtree Ridge, and North Gwinnett hosts Duluth in key region action.

The Eagles of Coach Kevin Reach have won three straight after an opening loss to Central Gwinnett. Peachtree Ridge went 0-2 early with some offensive woes, but now the Lions have won two of their last three and are 2-1 in 7-AAAAAA.

The Bulldogs (1-1 in 7-AAAAAA) were ranked among the state's five top teams early, before the loss to Norcross (3-0 in 7-AAAAAA). But a region title still is within reach for North, but it will need help.
