Suwanee Football Teams Get a Breather

Collins Hill, North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge have a midseason break Friday.

Think of it as an All-Star break for high school football. All three Suwanee teams, like others in Region 7-AAAA, have a bye week Friday before cranking up for the second half of the season.

So let's take a quick look at how the teams have fared so far:

The Eagles have struggled, but they also have done so against a very tough schedule. Two of the losses (North Gwinnett and M.L. King) were to teams ranked in the Top 10 statewide. Running back Jordan Parker has carred Collins Hill offensively, but the team also has been hurt by turnovers and penalties.

The Bulldogs have been an offensive powerhouse. Only in the season opening loss to top-ranked McEachern has North scored less than 34 points. QB Scotty Hosch has been an able field general, and RB Joe Jones and WR Chad Scott have stood out.

This is a big-play team on the verge of breaking into the state rankings. QB Billy Best and RB Diandre Atwater have been the stars for a team that has not lost since the season opener. Next up: Suwanee rival Collins Hill.
