The Lady Bulldogs (18-3) face a familiar Region 7AAAAA foe in Mill Creek in Tuesday's semifinal.

Playing without an injured Laruen Harriman, North still managed to extend its winning streak to 10. They took control with two quick-strike goals from Caroline Gualdoni and Jordan Goldring late in the first half.

Gualdoni’s second goal came barely 3 minutes into the second half and extended the lead to 3-0. Taylor Burns scored the final goal in the closing minutes.

PEACHTREE RIDGE

TRACK AND FIELD

Peachtree Ridge only qualified three athletes for the boys Class AAAAA state track and field meet in Jefferson. But it was all they needed to take the lead on the first day as pole vaulter Matt Morris, long jumper Tori Tillman and distance runner Josh Brickell all finished first in their events to give the Lions the team lead with 30 points.

Morris cleared 14 feet with fewer misses than runner up Mason Sheats of Mill Creek.

Tillman, who won the Region 7-AAAAA title with a leap of 23 feet, 71⁄2 inches, bested that with a leap of 23-11 1/4 to finish first. Brickell overcame a slow start to claim the title in the day’s only running event, the 1,600-meter run.

BOYS LACROSSE

Peachtree Ridge rolled to a 14-8 win over Roswell in the Class AAAAA state lacrosse playoffs Wednesday.

The Lions (15-4), the only public school in Gwinnett County to ever win a lacrosse playoff game, opened up a 7-2 lead at halftime and held off a late Roswell rally to post the victory.

Tanner Botts led the scoring with four goals. Cory Hall and Steven Lee added three goals each and Michael Ruffcorn had two.

Peachtree Ridge is scheduled to play the winner of the Walton and Hillgrove game Saturday.

COLLINS HILL

BOYS SOCCER

Two-time defending state champion Collins Hill cruised to an 8-0 win over host Dacula Wednesday in the second round of the Class AAAAA boys soccer playoffs.

It was the 12th consecutive win for the Eagles who got off to a fast start, scoring two goals before the game entered its ninth minute. Eli Carrasco scored two first-half goals. The Eagles (18-1) now advance to play at Harrison in Saturday's quarterfinals.

GIRLS SOCCER

Sarah Heck scored both goals Wednesday as the Collins Hill girls soccer team defeated Roswell 2-0 in the second round of the Class AAAAA state tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they face the state's No. 1 team, Harrison.

That matchup will feature a rematch of a game that Harrison won 1-0 earlier in the season when Collins Hill was missing several of its key players.

BOYS LACROSSE

Defending state champion and perennial powerhouse Milton routed Collins Hill 9-1 Wednesday in the opening round of the Class AAAAA boys state lacrosse playoff.

Milton led 2-0 after the first quarter and 6-0 at halftime.
