North Gwinnett Student Named Best in Tech

GCPS honors the top students in technology.

student Shiv Patel recently was named Technical Education Student of the Year in Gwinnett County, according to a Gwinnett schools' news release. The competition included students from GCPS and Buford City schools.

As such, Patel earned a $1,000 scholarship. First runner-up for the title was Sienna Brown of Archer High, who received a $500 scholarship. The second runner up was Christina Ethridge of Grayson High, who takes classes in the Grayson High Technical Education Program. She received a $250 scholarship.

The selection process required nominated students to submit a transcript, a letter of recommendation from the nominating teacher, information on participation in a Career and Technical Student Organization, and an essay. The final requirement was an interview conducted by a panel of judges from business and industry and Gwinnett Technical College.
