Suwanee Grad a Bright Spot for Auburn

North Gwinnett's Uzomah throws a TD pass for Tigers' lone score vs. Georgia.

In an otherwise bleak day for Auburn on Saturday, a player from Suwanee provided some early highlights for the Tigers.

Receiver C.J. Uzomah, a freshman out of, threw a 4-yard scoring pass to tie the score at 7 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs, of course, went on to a 45-7 victory.

Uzomah was a highly recruited player last year, and chose the team that won the national title. According to Auburn sports information, it was the first TD pass of Uzomah's career. News reports say that Auburn tried the play twice before this season without success.

Uzomah was a quarterback at North Gwinnett, but at 6-5, 235 pounds, he's obviously big enough to play tight end. And obviously, he still has his passing touch.

"It was surreal, really," Uzomah told the Gwinnett Daily Post. "It was really a great feeling (with the touchdown coming) in my home state. Obviously, it wasn't the result we were looking for, but we're looking to build off this and come back next week with a positive attitude."
