What's Your Favorite Suwanee or Gwinnett Park? $100,000 in Grant Money at Stake

The Coca-Cola Company is in the fourth year of its "America is Your Park" contest. Voting ends July 15.

It's National Great Outdoors Month, and families in Suwanee and Gwinnett can help their favorite local park when $100,000 in grant money from the Coca-Cola Company.

Suwanee, of course, is defined by its parks, with Town Center Park being the city's focal point.

It is part of the Atlanta-based beverage company's "America is Your Park" campaign, which is in its fourth year. There are four recreation grants that will be given out for the parks with the most gifts:

  • First Place: Wins $100,000 grant and title of "America's Favorite Park"
  • Second Place: Wins $50,000 grant
  • Third Place: Wins $25,000 grant
  • Bonus: A fourth winner will be chosen at random from those parks placing 4th - through 25th. The winner wins $15,000.Β 

So far, more than 45,000 votes have been cast, and the leader is the Veteran's Memorial Park in Moore, Okla. As of June 11, there is one Georgia park in the top 25: Piedmont Park.

Voting ends 11:59 p.m. on July 15. Winning parks will be contacted in August.

There are daily limits to the number of times people can vote per voting method:

  • Vote on the Coca-Cola website once a day; this equals one vote. (Search for your park by clicking here.)
  • Vote once a day via Foursquare by checking in at your favorite park; this equals five votes.
  • Vote once daily by logging more than 20 minutes of activity via MapMyFitness; this equals 10 votes.
  • There also are special double point days, including the first day of summer (June 21) and July 13-14, the last weekend for voting.Β
