Gwinnett Lowers Peachtree Industrial Speed Limit in Suwanee

Commissioners have approved a new speed zone ordinance, which affects several roads in the county. Share your thoughts.

Perhaps the busiest and most dangerous thoroughfare in Suwanee now has a lower speed limit.

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners earlier in August amended the county's speed zone ordinance, which affects several streets in the county. One of the affected streets is Peachtree Industrial Boulevard -- which now officially has a 45 mph speed limit in the city limits of Suwanee.

Kim Conroy, transportation director for Gwinnett, said county workers will begin changing speed limit signs in the next few weeks.

Many residents as well as Suwanee Police Chief Mike Jones long have felt that this stretch of road needed a lower speed limit, because of increased development and traffic.

The most recent data from Suwanee Police shows that three of the four most crash-prone intersections are on PIB.
