Flash Flood Warning for Suwanee Area

Motorists are advised about water covering the roadways.

The rain keeps on in and around Suwanee, and so do the alerts.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Suwanee and Sugar Hill and the immediate Gwinnett area. As of 5:24 p.m., 1-2 inches of rain had fallen in the area from a thunderstorm. The alert lasts until 9:30 p.m. Friday (July 12).

The alert read:

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNED AREA. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY...THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

People who see significant flooding can call the National Weather Service atΒ (866) 763-4466.

Patch will have updates on the weather.
