Flooding Reporting in Suwanee Creek Area

Recent heavy rain has had an effect.

The recent heavy rain is taking a toll in Suwanee.

According to the National Weather Service, Suwanee Creek is in flood stage, and the greenway area has experienced flooding.

The flood warning issued Monday (Dec. 23) reads in part:

MINOR FLOODING EXPANDS FURTHER INTO THE FLOOD PLAIN FROM SUWANEE CREEK PARK THROUGH MARTIN FARM PARK TO GEORGE PIERCE PARK. THE SUWANEE CREEK GREENWAY AND TRAILS ARE COMPLETELY FLOODED WITH THE WATER APPROACHING THE SWIFT ATLANTA COMPANY PARKING LOT. SUWANEE CREEK ROAD BEGINS TO FLOOD IN LOW AREAS NEAR BENNETT CREEK BRIDGE. IN ADDITION...YARDS BEGIN TO FLOOD OFF BEND CREEK TRAIL AND MILL CREEK RUN. PORTIONS OF THE PLAYGROUND BEHIND THE SUWANEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WILL BE FLOODED.


Flood stage is 8 feet, and Suwanee Creek will rise to almost 10 feet by Monday morning, the report said. The creek is expected to fall below flood stage after midnight Tuesday.
