UPDATED: Watch Out, Suwanee: Flood Warning Issued

Recent storm activity spawns an alert.

Updated Jan. 12, 5:05 a.m.: Suwanee Creek was at flood stage, after recent heavy rains.

A chart on weather.gov showed the creek at 8.47 feet, as of 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Flood stage is 8 feet.

That heavy rain overnight Friday (Jan. 10) and Saturday morning in the Suwanee area has spawned an alert.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Warning has been issued for Suwanee Creek, and other waterways in the Gwinnett area.

The warning reads in part:

RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL HAS CAUSED SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF INTO STREAMS AND RIVERS WHICH WILL CAUSE FLOODING IN SOME AREAS.

Flood stage for Suwanee Creek is 8 feet, according to a chart on weather.gov. As of 10:15 a.m. Saturday, the level was at 5.39 feet.
