The Hall of Fame rock band gives its second Suwanee concert in two years Saturday.
"You're ALL younger girls to us," Steve Boone of the Lovin' Spoonful playfully told the crowd Saturday (Oct. 6) in Suwanee, after the group played "Younger Girl" early in its concert. The Hall of Fame rock band put on its second Suwanee gig in two years at Town Center Park, as part of the Amigos for Christ Celebrate Service festival. And as Yogi Berra might say, it was deja vu all over again. The band again delivered all of its signature hits, concluding the regular set with "Summer In The City" and "Do You Believe In Magic." However, the band -- which has two founding members and another longtime member still along for the ride -- seemed notably more energetic than it did at Suwanee Day 2012, particularly the vocals. The Lovin' Spoonful will return to the Town Center Park stage for the Amigos for Christ event.
If you did not get enough of the Lovin' Spoonful at Suwanee Day 2011, they'll be back Saturday (Oct. 6). The band that rose to fame in the 1960s with several hits will headline the Amigos for Christ Celebrate Service festival. The Lovin' Spoonful will have a 2012 encore in Suwanee. The legendary rock band, which performed at Suwanee Day in 2011, will be the headline entertainer for the Amigos for Christ festival at Town Center Park on Saturday, Oct. 6. Classic Southern rock musicians cap a daylong festival at Town Center Park.
Updated 7:33 a.m., Oct. 2, 2011 Town Center Park in Suwanee was alive with the sound of music Saturday, and there was fun and a message as well. A concert by the Atlanta Rhythm Section, the group with a long string of hits in the '70s, capped the Celebrate Service Music Festival, sponsored by Amigos for Christ. Also, patrons were asked to donate to build a water pipeline in Nicaragua. The ARS show started about 8:30 p.m., after a speech about compassion from Kevin Queen of 12Stone Church. Popular group with roots in '70s scheduled for Town Center Park stage Saturday.
Updated 2:20 p.m., Sept. 30, 2011 Just when you thought Town Center Park in Suwanee was about to become an oldies radio station, a new twist is added for Saturday. The Atlanta Rhythm Section, a revamped version of the group that gained fame in the 1970s, is headlining the Celebrate Service Music Festival. The band is scheduled to take the amphitheater stage at 7:30 p.m. However, that caps an entire day of music at the park. The North Gwinnett Drum Line and the 12Stone Band are among the other performers listed. Music is expected to start at 10 a.m. The event, sponsored by Amigos for Christ charity of Buford, also lists a 30-mile bike ride and a frisbee tournament as attractions.
