Fun, Fitness and Easter Eggs

Entertainment options are varied in and around Suwanee this weekend.

Obviously I'd be wrong when it comes to the Blimpie Health and Fitness Expo this Saturday in Suwanee. Look for sandwiches and materials promoting the benefits of a healthy diet and regular exercise. For more information email paul@blimpiegeorgia.com "Barrio Hollywood" at Aurora Theater in Spanish Thursday through Sunday, Aurora Theatre presents the Spanish-language …

The Silverbacks have talent, tryouts and a schedule.

After a two-year hiatus, the Atlanta Silverbacks are making a comeback. The team plays near Spaghetti Junction off Hillcrest Road, just south of Norcross. The stadium, which can hold 5,000 fans, buzzed last Friday as players from all over the world attended a combine, or tryout, for the 2011 team.  Patch sat down with Director of Soccer Rodrigo Rios before the recent tryout (see video).  Major League Soccer, or MLS, is the biggest soccer league in the United States. The Silverbacks are part of the North American Soccer League, the second largest league, which was sanctioned this season, bringing the team back into the fold.  The Silverbacks played from 1998 to 2008 in the USL or United Soccer Leagues, but sat out two seasons because they …

The Force Is With Us ... Again

The revived Arena League team kicks off next month in Gwinnett.

Teresa McDaniel came to the park on a sunny Saturday to watch her son. But he wasn't one of the ones flying a kite, playing lacrosse or riding a razor scooter. They also came from as far away as Virginia. Austin Faulkner, a former Randolph-Macon quarterback, and his father drove nine hours for the tryout at Sugar Hill's Gary Pirkle Park. And they came from near…
