Georgia and Alabama also win Saturday to complete the postseason picture.
The SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia will be televised at 4 p.m. December 1 on CBS. --- Things went as expected in SEC football action Saturday (November 23), and Notre Dame also won to set up the BCS National Championship scene. The Fighting irish, ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings, completed an 11-0 season Saturday night with an 22-13 victory over rival USC. In the SEC, Georgia smacked Georgia Tech 42-10, and Alabama walloped Auburn 49-0. The Crimson Tide (No. 2 in BCS) thus clinched the SEC West title and will play Georgia (No. 3 in BCS) for the SEC title in Atlanta on December 1. The SEC champion then likely will get the bid to play the Irish for the BCS title January 7 in Miami. This already is quite a turnaround for …

Looking at the final regular-season weekend of SEC action.
All eyes will be on Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday for the annual Auburn-Alabama rivalry. This is always a fierce one, and this year it carries strong implications for the SEC title and BCS national championship picture. Alabama can clinch the SEC West title with a win. And no one is giving Auburn, winless in the SEC this year, much of a chance. (Game time: 3:30 p.m., CBS). Shades of 1972. That year, Alabama was heavily favored over Auburn when the teams met. But in one of the most memorable upsets in college football history, Auburn blocked two punts, returning them both for touchdowns in a 17-16 victory. The plays were strikingly similar: Auburn's Bill Newton broke through to block both punts, and Auburn DB David Langner picked them both …

Another Saturday of upsets in college football should scramble rankings.
Georgia as BCS national champion for 2012-13? Could happen. After No. 1 Kansas and No. 2 Oregon lost Saturday (November 17), the Bulldogs now have a realistic chance at the BCS title game (January 7 in Miami). The top two teams in the final BCS standings will play for the title. The Bulldogs, who were No. 5 in last week's BCS rankings, could move up this week after Saturday's upsets. Georgia kept its chances alive Saturday with a 45-14 victory over Georgia Southern. Now, UGA must beat Georgia Tech on November 24 and win the SEC title game on December 1 to be able to play in Miami. The Bulldogs' foe in Atlanta will be known after the Alabama-Auburn game on November 24. Alabama is No. 4 in the BCS, with No. 3 Notre Dame in the best position …

The day many SEC football fans have been waiting for has arrived. Alabama and LSU will tangle -- again -- Monday night in the Superdome in New Orleans to determine the Bowl Championship Series champion. It's controversial for several reasons. One, LSU already has beaten Alabama once this season, during the regular season in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Thus, the Crimson Tide could win the national title game despite not winning their own conference. And Oklahoma State got nosed out of the title game despite winning the Big 12. Also, the BCS itself is the subject of much criticism. Its matchups are determined by both computer rankings and human voters. Thus, the inference of political influence is constant. It has the word "championship" in its title, …
