Suwanee Music Barn Hosting Fall Benefit Oct. 20

The iconic Everett music facility will crank up bluegrass and other activities at 2 p.m.

Everett's Music Barn will put another spin on an eventful year Saturday (Oct. 20), when it hosts an all-day fall event with bluegrass, food and fund-raising activities. The event starts at 2 p.m. As well as several musical performers, the facility on Stonecypher Road in Old Town Suwanee will be serving food plates for $5 ($1 for drinks), beginning at 4 p.m., according to the Facebook page. Funds raised will be used to refurbish the barn, which was built in the 1970s. There will be raffles, with a grand prize being a week's stay at a condominium in Panama City, Fla. Already, the Everett facility has hosted its spring benefit, and it was the site for the City of Suwanee's rollout for the 20/20 Strategic Vision effort. Musical performers …

Suwanee To Recognize Everett Music Barn Owners

Council to commend group for reviving tradition.

Some Suwanee-area residents that helped preserve a local musical tradition will get some recognition from city leaders Tuesday. Chris Lybeer, who along with the Webb and Gardner families purchased the Everett Music Barn and related property in March, are on the City Council agenda for recognition. Tuesday's meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The three families closed on the 1.1-acre property on Stonecypher Road in March; it had gone up for sale late in 2010 after Roger Everett's death brought a halt to weekly bluegrass gigs that had been played in the barn since the 1960s. Suwanee Music Barn Daylong Event Is Saturday

Music, food, raffles and good times are on the agenda.

The revived Everett Music Barn, site of regular bluegrass performances since the 1960s in Suwanee, is ready for its annual day-long event. The performing venue on Stonecypher Road will get started on Saturday, June 4, at 1 p.m. with bluegrass music, including jamming by anyone who wants to bring an instrument along. There will be a meal break at 5 p.m., and performances will resume in the evening, family member and curator Tommy Everett said. Raffles for such items as golf tickets, music CDs and an autographed Atlanta Falcons helmet will be held, Everett said. Funds will be used for ongoing barn maintenance.
