In a video you'll only see on Patch, current Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez and former manager Bobby Cox said they both enjoyed playing in this matchup between the Braves All-Stars and Future All-Stars at Coolray Field.
Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez got a look at the future. And Gwinnett baseball fans got a chance to watch their major league favorites play in their own backyard. A record setting crowd of 10,568 came to Coolray Field on Tuesday night to watch the Atlanta Braves take on the Future All-Stars -- a team made up of the best talent from the major league team's farm clubs. And the future looks bright for many of the up and coming players. "They've got some good young position players there and some of those arms that came out of the bullpen, it was pretty impressive to see," said Gonzalez. "If I ever get fired, I'm gonna go out there and manage the Lynchburg Hillcats this year," he joked. "It's a pretty good club they've got out there…

Updated April 3 It won't be long -- Tuesday, in fact -- until the Atlanta Braves play their first-ever game at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. One of the fun things about this game is that Bobby Cox, the former Atlanta Braves manager who retired after the 2010 season, will manage the Futures team of Braves minor-leaguers. And he'll be managing against some of the players that he led into the 2010 playoffs. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Special events for season ticket holders start at 3:30 p.m., while the general public can join in on the fun starting at 4:30 p.m., according to a Gwinnett Braves news release. As far as the Futures Team players, three players expected to be with the Gwinnett Braves are included, the G-Braves said. Right-…

Teheran improves to 10-1 on season as Brundage gets 1,000th victory.
Richard and Annette Zolecki of Lawrenceville were just coming to the Gwinnett Braves game and hoping to see Bobby Cox. Little did they know they'd be a part of history, as Richard became the one millionth fan to come through the turnstiles. Zolecki was with 32 of the General Motors Executive Retirees group and offered to hand out the tickets for his friend John Hennings. But Hennings said he'd do it instead, and when Zolecki went through the turnstile, G-Braves General Manager North Johnson pulled him aside and the confetti went down. "When I was talking to the guy that I was going to relieve, I said wouldn't it be nice if someone in our group won that thing," Zolecki said. "It's just been a great night. Everybody has been friendly. I …

The Gwinnett Braves are planning a big day Monday at Coolray Field, but keeping a winning streak alive is not part of the plan. The G-Braves lost to Norfolk, 4-2, at home Sunday, ending their four-game winning streak. A double by Norfolk's Kyle Hudson in the seventh gave the Tides the lead for good. The loss drops the G-Braves to a half-game ahead of Durham in the International League South. Monday, the G-Braves will have Bobby Cox Day at Coolray Field. The former Atlanta Braves manager will be honored before the 7:05 p.m. game with Louisville. Also, Gwinnett expects the 1 millionth fan to cross into the park since the team started play here in 2009. The team stands just 1,178 fans from that milestone after Sunday's game.

Legendary former Atlanta Braves Manager Bobby Cox will wrap up his farewell tour with his own day at Coolray Field. The Gwinnett Braves announced that Bobby Cox Day will be held at the Lawrenceville ballpark Monday. Bobby Cox figurines will be handed out to the first 3,000 fans. A lucky few will also get a "golden ticket," allowing them to take part in a Meet and Greet with the retired Braves Manager. A season ticket holder will also win the chance to escort Cox on to the field before he throws out the first pitch. Cox also threw out the first pitch at the G-Braves season opener. Braves fans can also ask Cox questions by submitting them on the G-Braves Facebook page. Those questions will then be asked live during an inning break at the …
