Gwinnett fire officials recently held a tree-burning demonstration to stress holiday hazard prevention.
Chances are the last thing on most everyone's mind is holiday fire safety at this time of year. As a powerful reminder of what can go wrong if you are not properly caring for a live Christmas tree, the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services and Lowe's Home Improvement Store in Suwanee recently teamed up to present a demonstration of what can happen if we become complacent about fire safety this time of year. Lt. Jeremy Webb of the Gwinnett County Fire Department addressed the most common cause of holiday fires. "Human error is typically the cause of Christmas tree fires," Webb said.
