Recycle That Christmas Tree in Suwanee and Gwinnett

There are several locations available. Also, volunteers are needed.

Now that Christmas 2012 has come and gone, what to do with that old tree? Rather than just dragging the tree to the curb, why not give it a second life?   Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is asking you to bring your old tannenbaums to their annual "Bring One for the Chipper" tree recycling campaign. From now until January 18, 2013, Gwinnett County residents can take their undecorated Christmas trees to one of several locations for recycling. One location is Sims Lake Park in Suwanee. Click here for other locations across Gwinnett County. On January 26, the collected trees will be taken to Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville, where they will be shredded. Christmas Tree Recycling Deadline Is Near

'Bring One For The Chipper' program ends Monday at locations in Suwanee and Gwinnett.

Updated Jan. 14, 2012 The deadline is Monday, January 16, to get rid of that Christmas tree. Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is asking you to donate your trees to their annual "Bring One for the Chipper" tree recycling campaign. The trees will be turned into mulch to use in locations throughout the county. Until January 16, Gwinnett County residents can take their undecorated Christmas trees to one of several locations. Christmas Is Going ... And Hanging Around

Signs of the snow are still around, although some people are moving on.

It has been a few days since the historic Christmas Day snowfall in Suwanee. Right away, some residents began getting rid of seasonal trappings. One of the attached pictures shows some Christmas trees that were dropped off Monday at Sims Lake Park in Suwanee, as part of the city's Bring One For The Chipper recycling program. However, some stubbornness remains. A snowman was still surviving Wednesday in one part of town, near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and McGinnis Ferry Road. Temperatures have remained in the 20s and 30s since the holiday snowstorm, the first in the area since the 19th century. Tammy Hiler of the City of Suwanee said the city's recycling effort yielded 1,200 mulched trees last year. The program will continue until Jan…
