Suwanee Grad a Bright Spot for Auburn

North Gwinnett's Uzomah throws a TD pass for Tigers' lone score vs. Georgia.

In an otherwise bleak day for Auburn on Saturday, a player from Suwanee provided some early highlights for the Tigers. Receiver C.J. Uzomah, a freshman out of North Gwinnett High, threw a 4-yard scoring pass to tie the score at 7 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs, of course, went on to a 45-7 victory. Uzomah was a highly recruited player last year, and chose the team that won the national title. According to Auburn sports information, it was the first TD pass of Uzomah's career. News reports say that Auburn tried the play twice before this season without success. Uzomah was a quarterback at North Gwinnett, but at 6-5, 235 pounds, he's obviously big enough to play tight end. Prepare For and Respond to Emergencies With 'Ready Georgia' Free Mobile App

Georgia is the first state to offer an app for emergency preparedness with capabilities including geo-located weather alerts, customizable emergency plans and live maps of open shelters.

Following research that shows Americans are now increasingly reliant on mobile technology to learn information about disasters, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security and Georgia Department of Public Health have teamed up to create a special mobile app for both iPhone and Android devices. The new, free "Ready Georgia" mobile app debuted last week, offering up-to-the-minute weather and hazard alerts based on a user’s location and customizable emergency preparedness checklists. Before an emergency, users will be able to make disaster plans for their families and check flood risk levels and historic tornado data near their location, according to a news release. You don't have to relocate to Hollywood. Georgia is among the top five states for production.

Think it would be fun to be in the movies?  You don’t have to move to Los Angeles to make it happen. Since 1912, Georgia has been happily welcoming film and TV production to our great state. More than 700 movies and TV shows have been shot in Georgia, including hits like “Forest Gump” and “The Blind Side,” along with popular television shows such as “The Vampire Diaries.” A total of 89 Georgia communities have received the “Camera Ready Community Program” designation by Gov.
