Suwanee-area residents can support the Girl Scouts and enjoy those tasty famous cookies beginning this week at several cookie booths around town. This year is a big year. In honor of the organization’s 100th anniversary, a new cookie from none other than the state of Georgia hits the stands – “Savannah Smiles.” According to the organization’s website, it is a bite-sized lemon wedge cookie with a dusting of powered sugar. Savannah featured prominently in plans for the new cookie because of its history as home of Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low. For thei 100th anniversary, Girl Scouts of the USA roll out Savannah Smiles, a cookie that honors Georgia.
Whohooo! A new year means, of course, another season of Girl Scouts cookies. The Girl Scouts will celebrate their 100th anniversary this year, and to honor the special occasion, they are debuting a new cookie, called “Savannah Smiles,” according to local news sites and the organization's website. The new cookie is a bite-sized lemon wedge cookie dusted in powdered sugar. And, when you hold it right, you’ll quickly be reminded of that world-famous 'Brownie Smile,'" stated on the Little Brownie Bakers …

You help her place calls to grandma and grandpa to beg for a small order. You help her fill out the forms and decide on what prize she wants to claim this year. You write a check to cover what she doesn't sell. Proudly she takes her form to her leader and waits to see if she is a contender for top seller. She loses to a girl whose mom has sold a gazillion million boxes at her office and friends. Yes, this is Girl Scout Cookie Time ! Is it fair for moms to sell for their daughters? What is truly the lesson that the girls are supposed to be learning from…

It's a big day Tuesday for Georgia's Girl Scouts, with the international organization honored by Gov. Nathan Deal and the Legislature as it kicks off the countdown to its 100th anniversary in 2012. For more than 41,000 girls in 34 Greater Atlanta counties, however, the day holds another special significance. It's time to get ready for the annual tradition of cookie booth sales at hundreds of locations, including shopping centers and offices. While the "official" booth sales begin Friday, the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta will unveil Tuesday a Cookie Coach to spread the word about the sales. And, in this digital age, the Girl Scouts have created a site to let cookie buyers find the nearest booth -- http://cookielocator.littlebrownie.com/ …
