One firefighter has been released, officials said.

Gwinnett Fire crews respond late Tuesday to Suwanee Dam Road at Cumming Highway.
An explosion and fire in a wooded area late Tuesday in Suwanee resulted in a man being hospitalized with injuries. According to a release by Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services, crews were called to Suwanee Dam Road and Cumming Highway about 9:30 p.m. Officials were told that there was a "man in the woods surrounded by fire." The man had second degree burns to his hands, face and limbs, officials said. The man was treated and transported to a hospital. The incident was believed to be caused when a small propane tank exploded accidentally when it was close to an open fire set by the man. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental. With temperatures expected to reach the high 90s in Suwanee on Wednesday, a heat advisory is again in force from 11 a.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday. The area also remains under a Code Orange unhealthy air alert. According to the advisory issued by the National Weather Center, the heat advisory is for portions of north and central Georgia, including both Walton and Gwinnett counties. The area is expected to have heat indices between 100 and 110 degrees during the day. This produces hazardous conditions for outdoor activities. A heat advisory means that a period of dangerous heat is expected. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge is advising people to heed the advisory. A thunderstorm that moved through Gwinnett County early Saturday (June 18) evening kept firefighters and emergency crews busy responding to reports of fallen trees on houses and roadways, house fires caused by lightning strikes, and downed electrical wires. Monday's storm causes problems around Gwinnett.
Monday's storm resulted in activity to a house in Suwanee, as well as several other incidents around Gwinnett. Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services responded to a lighting strike in the 200 block of Azalea Chase Point in Suwanee, fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in a release. No injuries were reported. The source was found to be a lightning strike to a cable TV line in the basement. There was no damage to the structure. In other incidents: -- A shed was reported on fire in Buford because of a lightning strike in the 5900 block of Lake Lanier Heights Road. No injuries were reported. House fires, blocked roadways and trees on houses are reported from Monday's activity.
Updated 6:05 a.m., April 6, 2011 Several incidents such as house fires, trees downed on houses and downed power lines were reported throughout Gwinnett County on Monday as a result of the storm that ran through the county. Possible house fires due to lightning were reported Monday at 2501 Crumps Landing Circle in Snellville and 3659 Cecilia Way in Loganville, reported Capt. Since 1971, the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services has been saving lives and protecting property. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the department will hold an open house at each of Gwinnett County’s 30 fire stations Sunday, March 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. Citizens are invited to tour the stations, view apparati and equipment displays and learn valuable fire and life safety information. The Suwanee station is on Buford Highway, next to the Suwanee Police Department and across from Town Center Park. The Gwinnett County Fire Department handled its first emergency call on March 30, 1971. That year, the department had one station, 10 personnel and a budget of $89,000.
