A Suwanee teen who apparently has "done a few tattoos" for people at his house has been charged with tattooing a 14-year-old girl. According to Gwinnett Police, Jose Jaime Cruz Jr. of a James Lee Drive address gave a tattoo to a girl at his residence on May 17, after school hours. The incident report indicates that Cruz's father "was at least aware" that his son has given tattoos to people in the house. The victim told police that she only knew Cruz Jr., who is a Collins Hill High student, by the name of "Demente." Cruz Jr. is not a licensed tattoo artist. The recent hostage-taking of Gwinnett firefighters ended with Lauren Holman Brown being shot dead by Gwinnett police.
The incident Wednesday in which a Suwanee man held five Gwinnett County firefighters hostage before being shot dead likely was planned, officials said Thursday. Lauren Holman Brown told his captives during the incident that he chose firefighters as hostages "because he knew (police) would come armed," Gwinnett Police Chief Charles Walters said Thursday at a news conference at police headquarters in Lawrenceville. "That's an indication that he planned this." The incident began about 3:40 p.m. when Gwinnett Fire and Emergency officials received a call from 2440 Walnut Grove Way in unincorporated Suwanee. Lilburn Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car off Pleasant Hill Road on Sunday (April 7). According to a Lilburn Police news release, the deceased man was a Lawrenceville resident. Authorities were able to positively identify the man with the help of immediate family this morning, but police are withholding his name pending notification of other family members. A basketball game in honor of Robert Jimenez will be Friday at Lanier High in Sugar Hill.
Several Suwanee Police officers will be participating in a fund-raiser basketball game Friday (March 15) in honor of a Gwinnett schools' resource officer who was injured in a traffic accident. GCPS officer Robert Jimenez was injured in February while he was directing traffic in the morning at Lanier High. Police reports say that a motorist did not heed Jimenez's warnings, and hit Jimenez with her vehicle. Officer Robert McCoy and several other Suwanee officers will take on the Lanier High faculty Friday at 6 p.m. at Lanier High in Sugar Hill. A 35-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot in unincorporated Suwanee on Thursday evening (February 21), according to police. Gwinnett Police report that officers responded about 8:15 p.m. to a "person shot" call on Hunt River Way. The responding officer noted that the man was shot multiple times, in front of the home. The shooting may be the result of an argument between people involved. The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, police said. No additional information is available. Gwinnett County Police are looking for a man who is suspected of robbing a Chase Bank on Monday, Feb. 18, after threatening that he had a bomb. According to a press release emailed Tuesday afternoon, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the robbery was reported at the Chase Bank at 3780 Old Norcross Road around 1:15 p.m. Monday. "The suspect gave a note to a teller indicating that he had a bomb and wanted money," Smith wrote. The suspect is described as an average-built white male in his late 40s or early 50s wearing blue jeans, tab jacket and black knit cap. (See photo attached to this file). A Suwanee resident was jailed Thursday (December 6) after a shoplifting incident at Kohl's in Duluth, according to Gwinnett Police records. Richard Benjamin Rushing of a Breton Hunt Lane address was being held by a loss prevention worker at Kohl's on West Liddell Road when officers arrived, according to the incident report. He later was charged with theft by shoplifting, according to jail records. The Kohl's worker said she observed Rushing enter a fitting room, then exit the room with fewer items than he took in. Another employee reportedly found tags inside the fitting room, according to the report. The loss prevention worker said Rushing concealed a shirt and hoodie (value $88), and left the store without offering to pay for the goods. …

She left home willingly, and no one will face charges in the case, according to Gwinnett Police Cpl.
