In a historic move, New Jersey will allow people who have been displaced by Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy to vote Tuesday via email or fax. According to a CNN.com report, it's the first time residents of the state have been allowed to vote remotely. The CNN.com report said: Under the New Jersey directive, displaced storm victims qualify as "overseas voters," meaning they are eligible to vote remotely. To vote electronically, residents first must submit a ballot application by e-mail or fax to their county clerk. Once the application is approved, the clerk will e-mail or fax a ballot to the voter, who must send it back no later than Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Employees help out, and you can, too.
It's been said it's far better to have a neighbor who's near than a brother who's far away, but in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Americans across the nation have proven to be the best neighbors and the strongest of families. This past weekend, AOL and Patch employees took an opportunity to pitch in, packing two tractor trailers worth of food, water and supplies in Dulles, VA, and Baltimore. The donations are headed to Hurricane Sandy ravaged areas in New Jersey and Long Island. Want to join the relief efforts? With damage to airports and flooding rampant, Holiday travel could be difficult this year.
It's safe to say that the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy will be felt for a long time up and down the Eastern Seaboard. One of the most immediate effects of the storm may be difficulties in holiday travel arising from flood and storm damage. Marci Zied of Canton's A Love of Travel travel agency doesn't see too many problems for holiday travelers as a result of Hurricane Sandy; in fact, she is leaving for Spain on Friday through New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. "We were worried because JFK was closed earlier, but it will be open to international flights by the time we leave," she said. "By Thanksgiving it shouldn't be an issue." Zied did say that New York's LaGuardia Airport, which handles more domestic flights, is closed due…
