3 Grayson High Students Arrested in Slaying of Fellow Student Sampleton

Gwinnett Police believe robbery was the objective. The students were aware Sampleton traded in high-end sneakers.

Gwinnett County Police Department announced Friday (February 8) that three teens have been arrested in connection with the Dec. 19 murder of Paul Sampleton, 14, of Grayson. Officials say all three were fellow students at Grayson High School. Arrested and in custody are Larnell Sillah, 15, charged with homicide, Romaine Stewart, 18, and Achiel Morgan, 15, both charged with armed robbery. Sillah and Morgan have both been charged as adults, according to officials. "Detectives believe the motive for this crime was robbery," GCPD spokesman Jake Smith said in a press release. "The suspects knew that Paul Sampleton traded in high-end sneakers and possessed nice clothing and electronics." Sampleton, a student at GHS, was discovered by his father …

Gwinnett Police say that a shoe collection is one angle they are considering as a possible motive in the recent slaying of Grayson High student Paul Sampleton Jr. "We are looking into that angle, among other things," Cpl. Jake Smith said. "I can only say that the investigation is ongoing at this point. We'll always accept tips from the public at  770-513-5300." WSB-TV first reported that friends of the teen believe the murder could have been over shoes.
