Vacation Bible School ... Lake Lanier Islands ... movies. These and other things will be getting more popular now that school is out and parents have to find or resume ways to keep the little ones occupied. Suwanee Patch wants to help. Starting next week, we will have Suwanee Summer Scene stories and pictures on a regular basis. As with many other Patch stories, we will stress interactivity. We not only want to give you ideas, but we want you to pass along via posts and comments the ideas you have for summer activities. Gwinnett County acquatic centers are preparing to open May 28, and residents can purchase special FUNCARDS that will be valid at all Gwinnett pools. Gwinnett parks operates two indoor and seven outdoor leisure pools, four indoor competition pools, three indoor instructional pools, and one outdoor pool. Year-round, seasonal or 10-visit FUNCARDS are valid at all Gwinnett County pools, according to a county media release. All paying patrons (18-up) will be required to furnish proof of residency in order to avoid paying the non-resident rates. Gwinnett County residents have the option to purchase a Resident Passport as a convenient way to show proof of residency. Tom, a license should be fine. From my experience with libraries and voting in other counties, a current utility bill or two (gas, electric, cable) will work as well. In some cases just any piece of stamped mail addressed to you has sufficed. But if you have any questions, ask the county.   more ›
