A Buford man was charged recently with disorderly conduct under the public intoxication sector. According to Gwinnett Police, he was observed urinating in public and staggering outside the Tilted Kilt in Suwanee. On February 20, a Gwinnett Police officer observed Gerard M. Miller of a Hamilton Park Lane address in Buford "stumbling through the parking lot" of the Tilted Kilt restaurant, located on Satellite Boulevard near I-85. The police report said Miller's speech was slurred and that he was "extremely unsteady and unable to stand or walk without swaying." How did the restaurant, known for its women servers, score on a recent health inspection?
The Tilted Kilt franchise in Suwanee has been open since March 2012, and it since has made quite an impression with diners, sports bar patrons and fans of its women servers. Also, it has scored well with health inspectors. The restaurant at 1500 Satellite Boulevard (near I-85) got a 90/A from Gwinnett/Newton/Rockdale health inspectors on October 10. It received a 76/C on October 2, and so a follow-up inspection was held. Inspectors noted on October 10 that a cooler below the grill was not maintaining a temperature of 41 degrees. The violation was corrected, according to the report. The controversy started as soon as the restaurant opened in mid-March. This comment about the Tilted Kilt was posted on Facebook: "Are Suwanee residents happy to have a Tilted Kilt (a Hooters wannabe) restaurant coming in the midst of our family-friendly area?? Yes, they have food there. And if you go to the Tilted Kilt that opened recently on Old Peachtree Road near I-85 for the food, there's plenty that won't disappoint you. And there are some unique items that set it apart from the usual sports bar/casual dining outlet. And then there are the women. The Suwanee restaurant scene is perking up a bit, with Twisted Taco planning to open an eatery. According to a website posting, the franchise eatery plans to open in Suwanee in the spring. The location would be in the former Chili's restaurant building on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, near Taco Mac. Also, Tilted Kilt, known for a Scottish pub theme and female servers dressed to emphasize cleavage, plans to open in Suwanee in February. This location will be on Old Peachtree Road near I-85.
