Valentine's Day Weddings in Gwinnett

This Valentine's Day was a special one for many couples who got married at the historic Gwinnett courthouse in Lawrenceville. Magistrate Court judges performed marriage and vow renewal services free of charge.

"It's Valentine's Day, and I thought that would be sweet for her," Jody Brookshire said of his reason for choosing to marry his bride, Robin, on Tuesday. The bride in question laughed and said, "He's lying! He just wants to have our anniversary be on Valentine's Day so he only has to buy one present!" Jody and Robin were just one of the many couples who took advantage of the Magistrate Court judges' free Valentine's Day marriage and vow renewal ceremonies at the in downtown Lawrenceville. What can be more romantic on Valentine's Day than a wedding? Gwinnett County Chief Magistrate George Hutchinson and other local judges will again make it easy for couples to get married in the county Courthouse on Valentine's Day -- without the expense of a big wedding. Gwinnett Magistrate Court judges will perform wedding ceremonies or special vow renewals at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 14, free of charge.   A valid marriage license must be obtained before that day for couples getting married. However, couples renewing their wedding vows do not need a copy of their marriage license.
