Atlanta Rhythm Section To Play in Gwinnett

The legendary rock band will be headlining the Duluth Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 25.

The Atlanta Rhythm Section will headline Duluth’s third annual Music Festival. Musical acts will be presented on three stages downtown from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Music genres of all kinds will appear on the Duluth Festival Center Amphitheater Stage and the Main Street Stage. Open Mic Atlanta will feature musicians in the Gazebo Stage. Admission to the festival is free. Atlanta Rhythm Section has been a part of the Southern Rock scene for more than 30 years, and has produced 15 albums of original music. The Atlanta-based band’s biggest hits include “So Into You,” “Champagne Jam,” “Imaginary Lover,” and “Spooky.” The band performed in Suwanee in 2011. Vertical Horizon Heads for Suwanee

The band will play Saturday, Aug. 11, at Town Center Park.

The City Of Suwanee soon will add to its strong reputation as an outdoor music performance venue when the band Vertical Horizon takes the Town Center Park amphitheater stage. The band that rose to fame in the late '90s will play Saturday, Aug. 11, beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is free. Atlanta Rhythm Section Has 'Champagne Jam' in Suwanee

The classic band entertains a special fan and others at the Celebrate Service Music Festival on Saturday.

Tammy Rich came from Knoxville, Tenn., to see Saturday's concert by the Atlanta Rhythm Section in Suwanee. A Sprayberry High grad, it was not the Suwanee she remembers visiting as a youth in the early 1960s -- then, her relatives had only outdoor restroom facilities. "I was very impressed" with Town Center Park and Suwanee, Rich said Sunday via telephone. She also enjoyed Saturday's show, which capped the Celebrate Service Music Festival. "They were 50 percent better last night than anytime I've seen them," Rich said, noting that it was about the 15th ARS gig she has attended. She said the improvement came from the re-addition of Paul Goddard, an ARS original, and guitarist David Anderson.  And she added more memorabilia: lead singer …

Atlanta Rhythm Section Highlights Suwanee Event

Popular group with roots in '70s scheduled for Town Center Park stage Saturday.

Updated 2:20 p.m., Sept. 30, 2011 Just when you thought Town Center Park in Suwanee was about to become an oldies radio station, a new twist is added for Saturday. The Atlanta Rhythm Section, a revamped version of the group that gained fame in the 1970s, is headlining the Celebrate Service Music Festival. The band is scheduled to take the amphitheater stage at 7:30 p.m. However, that caps an entire day of music at the park. The North Gwinnett Drum Line and the 12Stone Band are among the other performers listed. Music is expected to start at 10 a.m. The event, sponsored by Amigos for Christ charity of Buford, also lists a 30-mile bike ride and a frisbee tournament as attractions.
