Another Suwanee Restaurant Closes: Cafe Gourmandises

The French-themed eatery on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is no longer in business. Share your thoughts on a possible replacement.

It's getting dangerous for Suwanee restaurants. Cafe Gourmandises, which once billed itself as the "best French restaurant in Atlanta," has closed. The suite, in a plaza in the 600 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, is vacant, with no postings to indicate reasons or a possible reopening elsewhere. The cafe offered gourmet-themed entrees and sweet treats. Chef and owner Christophe Houy was born in France and graduated Versailles Culinary school at the age of 18. He also was a Chef Instructor at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts before opening Gourmandises in Suwanee, according to a Suwanee Patch review. This comes at a time when Olde Towne Tavern & Grille, not far away at Suwanee Town Center, closed in a bankruptcy proceeding. …

The main reason the cafe closed was due to the departure of Jennifer [ pastry chef ]. The male was rude, a know-it-all and really rubbed people the wrong way. It was more the attitude of the chef, and not the economy that made this place close. When a person thinks they are on top of the world; they have to remember who helped them get there.
