Also, the Gwinnett Braves have a fund-raiser planned for Jimenez.
The Gwinnett Public Schools' resource officer who was injured in a traffic accident in February is now recovering at home. And a large fund-raiser is being planned in his behalf. According to a recent Facebook post, officer Rolando Jimenez was released from hospitalization in early April. The post read in part: Officer Jimenez has been home for 9 days now and the time has really flown by. We are having fun doing things as a family. He missed the everyday craziness of being home. We've gone out several times to restaurants and some stores. Officer Jimenez has done well navigating out in the community with his walker and wheelchair. The Harrisons use remote monitoring on vending machines to gather intra-day data on sales and inventory. Each machine reports data to a central database, which allows the Harrisons to view and interpret the information via an Internet application. This helps them to know …

The chilly weather Saturday night meant no encore, but there still was plenty of warmth for Andy Velo at Town Center Park in Suwanee. Family members got hugs and pictures with Velo, the country music rising star who came home for the headline event at Parker's Parks Party. He took the stage about 8 p.m. and played about an hour, shorter than intended because the fans who did turn out still were affected by the cold. Also, the event was competing with the LSU-Alabama college football telecast. "And how 'bout them Bulldogs right up the road?" Velo, 24, said in reference to North Gwinnett High, his alma mater, and its region-clinching football victory the night before. Velo's set included his newest single, "Southern Thing," as well as some …
