Another new restaurant is making plans for the Town Center area.
'Tis the season of restaurant debuts in Suwanee. Friends Grill already has been making preparations for a spring 2013 opening in the Town Center area. And it has set Monday, April 8, as an opening date, according to owner Ray Stanjevich. The eatery, which also has outlets in Dacula and Dawsonville, also plans a twist for Suwanee. It will be known here at Friends Suwanee Grill, Stanjevich said. The idea is for Friends to be more of a neighborhood bar and gathering place. It will be located in the former Corralejo location on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, on the back side of Town Center. The restaurant still is waiting on some licenses and reviews from city, Gwinnett and state officiais, but still is making plans for April 8. That will mean …

The fine dining/entertainment facility on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard also has reduced operating days for 2013.
The owner of Moondance Restaurant and Lounge in Suwanee, which acknowledges financial problems, has begun selling membership packages "to keep us in business." In a blog post dated December 29, Christine Alestra noted the recent restaurant closures in Suwanee that include the Olde Towne Tavern & Grille in Town Center. "As we approach 2013, Moondance faces these same realities. We have analyzed our business closely and cut costs where we could. Until our revenue grows more significantly, these measures on their own are not enough to cover the high annual bills that come due starting on the 31st of December. That’s where you come in," the post noted. So the restaurant, which opened in late 2011, is offering member packages for individuals …

Moravek said Friday that a bankruptcy court decision required the closure December 20.
Updated December 28. The owner of Olde Towne Tavern & Grille in Suwanee said Friday morning that he was "blindsided" by the court decision that forced him to close the popular restaurant Thursday afternoon. Robert Moravek, who purchased the Town Center restaurant in 2011, said he learned about 1 p.m. on Thursday (December 20) that he would have to close the restaurant that day. About 3 p.m., the doors were closed and locked by a court-appointed locksmith, and a bankruptcy filing notice had been posted on the door. Morava said he had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy about four months ago, and that he had intended to continue operating and bring the restaurant out of bankruptcy. However, the case was converted to a Chapter 7 at the request of…
