Photos: Thousands Visit Christmas In The Park 2012 in Suwanee

The annual two-day event was put on by Shadowbrook Baptist Church. Share your comments and photos.

Again, it took a village to have Christmas In The Park 2012 in Suwanee. Exactly how may people participated in the two-day event is not known, but estimates are that about 3,700 people took in the exhibits, performers and music on Friday and Saturday in Town Center Park. Cups of hot chocolate dispensed gave the unofficial count, according to Shadowbrook Pastor Bobby Linkous. Some people had none, but some people had more than one, so ... And now we can recapture some of the spirit in photos. Be sure to upload yours. -- How did you like Christmas In The Park 2012? Add your comments and upload your pics and videos. Ghost of Christmases Past Revisits Suwanee in 2012

Christmas In The Park plays again this weekend.

If you want a dose of Christmas cheer, and to get a glimpse of Dickens-era characters, you'll want to head for Town Center Park in Suwanee this weekend. Christmas In The Park returns for a fifth run on Friday and Saturday (December 7-8), 5:30-8 p.m. It is presented again by Shadowbrook Baptist Church. According to the church website, the Christmas village will consist of 11 Christmas buildings that offer children’s activities and a children’s nativity for kids of all ages. There will be a children’s train ride, along with lights and sounds of Christmas. Also, there will be live music, including the Sounds of Suwanee from the Suwanee Academy of the Arts. World War II POW Finds Peace in Suwanee

Hank Freedman remembers a German stalag, as well as significant moments from a long career in Atlanta retail.

Hank Freedman has been to Asia and Europe -- some of it on business, but some of it inside a German prisoner of war camp in World War II. Freedman remembers the Pink Pig in downtown Atlanta -- and breaking bread for Passover when liberated from the stalag where he and others were held. And Freedman remembers a TV test pattern -- as well as enduring British bombing in a German boxcar on Christmas Eve, bombing that killed 60 other POWs in the same group. -- Do you have memories, family or otherwise, of World War II? Share them in the comments below. Freedman, now 91 and a Suwanee resident, recalls with lively detail a harrowing World War II experience, as well as a long and productive career with Rich's and Davison's, once landmarks on …

Yes, it is only February. The Christmas decorations have just been put away and the New Year just rung in, and now parents are already having to think about the fall. Preschools in Suwanee and the surrounding area have already started enrolling. If you know what school you prefer, enroll as soon as possible. If you do not know, now is a perfect time to schedule tours and to get more information so you can make your decision. Holidays in Suwanee

Christmas In The Park 2011

A video and photo look at the celebration, Suwanee style.

Ebenezer Scrooge was nowhere in sight in Suwanee last weekend. Plenty of other Christmas revelers were, though as Shadowbrook Baptist Church put on its annual holiday event, Christmas In The Park, on Friday and Saturday. As usual, Dickens-era costumes and displays were common, and there were attractions such as train rides, the Starry Night Theater (which featured a nativity event), and other activities. So Viewfinder recaptures the event, and it will be there for you to enjoy the rest of the holiday spirit. As Tiny Tim would say, " ... Bless us every one." Text and video by Steve Burns.
