Damaging Wind, Tornadoes Possible Wednesday in Gwinnett

The National Weather Service says the rough weather is possible Wednesday morning into the afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Wednesday for the possibility of severe weather in north Georgia, including Suwanee and Gwinnett County.

Severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes are possible, says the weather service, along with damaging winds and rainfall in excess of one inch.

The timing puts the active weather in this part of the state beween 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Here's an excerpt from the weather service's statement:

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL PASS THROUGH GEORGIA ON WEDNESDAY...WITH INSTABILITY AND VERY STRONG WIND SHEAR VALUES COMBINING TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SQUALL LINE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. IN ADDITION...FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE THUNDERSTORMS.
