Business as Usual ... So Far ... at Suwanee Chick-fil-A on Aug. 3

A manager said police have been briefed on the situation to prevent potential problems.

It was more about illiterate cows and customers during the midday lunch session Friday, Aug. 3, at a Suwanee Chick-fil-A store.

Still, the latest round in the political and lifestyle controversy surrounding the restaurant company had company officials on guard.

Jim Woodard, a manager at the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Moore Road at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, said Friday that he had discussed the situation with Suwanee Poiice, to be sure things do not get out of hand.

"Just so they (police) are aware of what's going on," Woodard said.

The situation, of course, is the so-called Same Sex Kiss Day that was proclaimed for Friday, Aug. 3, by a gay/lesbian advocacy group. This was to answer for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Aug. 1, proclaimed by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

Both events were outgrowths of a controversy that ensued after a statement by Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy in a Baptist publication. In the interview, Cathy said the company was "guilty as charged" of supporting the biblical definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
