Gas Prices on Rise In and Around Suwanee

Prices now well above $3 after dropping before Christmas.

Less than two weeks after gas prices dropped below $3 in Suwanee, they are rising rapidly.

Thursday morning, the lowest reported price in the 30024 ZIP Code on georgiagasprices.com was $3.15, at several stations. That's a 5 percent spike since Dec. 18. The average price in metro Atlanta reportedly was $3.19.

The latest price surge is being attributed to tension in the Middle East. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz over threats from some European nations to impose sanctions because of Iran's lack of cooperation over its nuclear program.
